I spent a lot of my day today drawing in the Garden Book. A big hole was left in my garden last year when a very old Mulberry Tree came down in a storm. It was such a beautiful tree but I had to respect that it was time for it to go. I really miss that big, gorgeous tree that had a hole in the back of the trunk large enough for a small child to enter!
And since that old tree fell on my lawn furniture and destroyed it, I had to get a couple new chairs this year...
Finally, there is no stopping me or anyone in my family from taking a well-deserved break. Here is son Bill trying out one of the new chairs!!!

Starr!! These are AWESOME!!!! I hope you're thinking of making your garden paintings into a book -- Sign me up for several copies!! LOVE IT!!
BTW, I LOVE mulberries -- used to make jam and pies from them ... we've planted a couple -- but they didn't like their space -- we're nursing a wild mulberry that has shown up ...

I love the "investigation" going on in the middle sketch, it creates all kind of stories! Your work is beautiful, I am so gald you are using your talent even if it is just for our enjoyment and of course yours!
I found your site while reading Moleskinerie and am very impressed with all your sketching - having taken a quick canter through the blog and stopped to read some of the entries. Finishing a Moleskine in 41 days is quite some accomplishment!
I'm also over 50 and no longer a sylph (those were the days!). There were quite a few comments as I read through that I 'recognised'!

Congratulations Starr! Lovely illustrations as always but how you used the tree made me laugh! Great that is didn't go to waste. Both the chairs and the paintings are a wonderful reminder of that tree!
